Emma Chambers has passed away at age 53 and the world is already missing her. That is also true of Dawn French, her former co-star and friend. There have been many people who have come forward with a touching tribute and have talked about how important she was in their life. Dawn French spoke up and said that “Emma was a very bright spark and the most loyal and loving friend anyone could wish for. I will miss her very much”
Most of us are familiar with the work of Emma Chambers from the time that she was on The Vicar of Dibley. It is a show that we enjoyed from 1994 until it went off the air in 2007. She played Alice Tinker in that Brit-com as well as appearing in the specials on Comic Relief up until 2007. She didn’t, however, play the part of Alice in the Comic Relief Specials in 2013 and 2015. Not only did we love her for the part she played in that show, she also won the British Comedy Award for Best Actress in 1998 thanks to that performance.
Although we have all be touched by the loss of this actress and comedienne, it touched those who worked with her the most deeply. Most of us can appreciate this, because losing someone that we know in real life is difficult to manage. That being said, it is also difficult when we know someone through their performances on TV and the movie screen.
That is why it is so touching to see the tribute Dawn French shared on Twitter:
I was regularly humped like this by the unique & beautiful spark that was Emma Chambers. I never minded. I loved her. A lot . pic.twitter.com/imzkoyKja9

This is a statement from the queen of comedy that is in true form. She is able to make us laugh at one of the most difficult things in life and at the same time, it has the ability to make us cry as well.
Emma was also known for her other parts, including a role in Notting Hill, when she played with Hugh Grant. He also came on Twitter to express his loss over her death and his feelings for her in life.
Emma Chambers was a hilarious and very warm person and of course a brilliant actress. Very sad news.

In Notting Hill, Emma played the younger sister of WIlliam Thacker, the character played by Hugh Grant. James Dreyfuss was also in that movie, and he came on to say that she was both unique and unspeakably funny.
Additional stars also expressed their condolences and their sadness over the loss of their colleague and their friend.
RIP the wonderful and talented Emma Chambers. Unique,& unspeakably funny. Too young. Thoughts with her family. X

Our beautiful friend Emma Chambers has died at the age of 53. We're very very sad. She was a great, great comedy performer, and a truly fine actress. And a tender, sweet, funny, unusual, loving human being. pic.twitter.com/vLQcRcv2Ex

Such terribly sad news about Emma Chambers. Notting Hill is one of my favourite films of all time and she is so stunningly superb in it. That film makes me laugh & cry, as does her performance in it. RIP Emma ?

According to her agency, she passed away on Wednesday from natural causes. She was only 53 years young and that is far too early to leave your life behind. Her agency had the following to say in an official statement:
“Emma created a wealth of characters and an immense body of work. She brought laughter and joy to many.
“At this difficult time we ask that the privacy of the family and loved ones be respected.”
